They are waiting on no’s from Lincoln Riley, Dabo, Mike Tomlin and a cryogenically frozen and thawed Knute Rockne. Jimbo is simply a smoke screen at the moment, but when Woody wants him Woody gets him, per the knowledgeable insiders on this site

The majority of LSU fans know he isn’t coming and don’t believe that is happening.
A&M fans know this, but there seems to be some semblance of desperation for this to be so for some ridiculous reason.

LSU fans can't admit that they know that Jimbo is a great coach who is doing a great job building A&M, and they also kinda know that they can't get him. But they're hoping, and they rightly recognize that LSU is in many ways a better program than A&M, and this allows them to hope that just maybe they could get Jimbo. But they can't say this out loud, because that would be to admit things about A&M's coach that they can't admit right now.
