Why do you think OU and Texas are bailing on the Big 12 for the SEC? OU's season is the counter-punch to the argument I hear over and over that OU is better off being kings of the Big 12 puddle rather than slugging it out in the SEC each season. The SEC, especially the top half of the conference, is just too damn strong relative to everyone else. And the conference's trajectory is sky-high while the Big 12 is stagnant. OU is better off being a 9-3 team in the SEC most seasons than 11-1 in the Big 12. And for Texas, they suck in the Big 12. Might as well suck in the best conference and get paid handsomely for it. That's the approach Mizzou took.

This exactly, the whole point is to get better, OU is committing to attempting to get better, to play better and improve. I think we all realize that. This post is a unbiased and realistic view. OU can keep doing what its doing but it will always be at a disadvantage compared to top tier SEC teams. Coming to the SEC will change that. The realistic view is that OU will hold its own but not dominate for the first several years, but will transition given its program and compete at the top tier winning some and losing some over the long haul, and in the new horizon of college football, that is a forward thinking view for success.

They knew the next TV contract was going to be really low and they felt they had to move to another conference. I'm sure the reason they chose the SEC is because of the TV money AND playing more power teams helps to recruit. You are not wrong about the money but I assure you OU and TEXAS are not moving so they can suck and get paid for it.

Whatever your school expects and demands from the football team isn't anything like OU and Texas. Any reasonable fan knows OU is not going to win the conference every year. But with a 12 team playoff, the SEC may have as many as 4 potential playoff teams which is why the PAC. BIG, and ACC had their parley.

Making the playoffs is the number two team goal for many schools especially in the SEC. The boost to recruiting for teams that make the playoffs is significant.

1, win their conference, 2, make playoffs, 3, win a natty and if Missouri's football team's goal is to play second fiddle every year you need a new AD and Coach.
