Why are many Georgia fans here rattled by Bama?

I really don't get it.
* Georgia is indisputably #1.
* Georgia has dominated every opponent thus far
* Georgia has looked very impressive on defense
* With a backup QB Georgia has looked very capable on offense.
If you and Bama win out, you get to play Bama in Atlanta. If you beat them, you go to the playoffs. Bama doesn't.
If Bama wins, you go to the playoffs but likely so does Bama. To me, that seems fair. Even still, you get a mulligan and would likely win in that scenario.
Even still, all this assumes Bama wins out which is not even close to a guarantee.
For those whose foot this shoe fits, why the histrionics, Dawg fans?

Totally agree with you but there's been a number of threads and posts where it seems some Dawg fans are shook by Bama. I want to understand.

Don't think anyone is rattled. Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever get to play them this year to see how we would have measured up.

I can't see why they would be afraid of playing Bama. To win a NC you must beat the top teams. Anyways, Georgia would be favored by a TD if they were to play.

As a UGA fan Bama is still the best team until UGA beats them! UGA has had their chances, but failed!

Well, Georgia would not be playing the 2020 or 2011 Bama teams, so if you were to beat them, you could say we beat Bama but they were not close to being one of the best Bama teams. This is very close to the 2019 Bama team that LSU beat. I realize the win was by 5 points but they got a garbage TD and we were dominating them. I would expect Georgia to do the same. Don't you?

The one thread you are referring to was made to be a joke thread about UGA having a shitty kicker. The joke sucked and didn't translate well to the masses.

My guess it's this part, which is not a given as we sit right now. A one loss non-conf champ has never gotten in over a P5 conf champ with the same or better L record. Add an undefeated Cincy into the mix just to make the decisions tighter. UGA looks to clearly belong in the CFPs and are playing better, more consistently than anyone else. That said, they wouldn't be a lock unless a couple of 2+ loss P5 teams finish as conference champs, and 1 loss UGa is seen as more deserving than an undefeated Cincy (which they are) .

I think it's just insecurity. Many are overcompensating.
