Also I would like to add that reporters are typically assholes so it is coming, but there has long been an unwritten rule that you go easy on college kids because they are amateurs and not professionals and old habits are hard to break.

I'd assume an sports-writer is free to write what they wish, as long as their editor approves. And now, since we've finally got rid of an arbitrary rule, the players are free to go make money. Just as I, as an academic scholarship recipient decades ago, was also free to go seek after-school work ... and was also encouraged to use the name and contacts of that small scholarship foundation to do so.

I'm sure Mark Emmert sees every one of these dollars as a lost opportunity for the NCAA. And anything that makes Mark Emmert sad makes me happy.
