I worked concession stands at BDS, but it's been a number of years.
A huge issue is the way the greedy UA handles the stands
They allow all of these service gropus, bands, etc handle them which is good, but at the time years ago, they made it even worse for the groups.
You get to keep 10% of the gross sales.
But, they started nickel and diming the groups:

*charged the groups cost for cooking too many hot dogs.

*take sales tax out of your 10% cut

In the end, you end up working a bunch of people for hours, netting less than minimum wage per worker.

It was bad. I got my drink before the game, but lot of folks around us spent nearly an entire quarter waiting in line. I figure it’s the same issue as what the fast food industry is dealing with regarding worker shortages.

And this is why places do this. It's a legal way for them to often pay less than minimum wage. I use to work in a similar setup at the Hoover Met for Barons games. We got 10 or 15% depending on the day. Our organization gave it up right after I graduated high school because they had such a struggle getting enough people to work because so many times you worked your a** off for very little money.
