I fully enjoyed last season. It was fun as hell. That doesn't change that we lucked out with a cake schedule.

Don't you mean the "Orange BowL"?

This thread is reminiscent of the one on the rant right now analyzing jimbo’s record here by the t sip that’s obsessed with us. So keep that in mind if supposedly people on the other site call you one.
Who cares what quality the wins were? What else could we have done? We played the conference schedule that was set for us and won all the games we were supposed to.
The team last year looked much better than this (even with Mond at QB!) and when they were playing well could’ve beat most teams beside Bama and Clemson.

If you're the 2nd best team in the division in any given year, you will likely have a similar slate of opponents. Maybe a little bit harder some years, but very manageable most years. We just haven't a had a good enough team to take advantage, excepting for 2012 and 2020.
To call it a mirage is dumb, imo. It was the culmination of 3 years of Mond+the OL growing into a solid pairing, and the result was the run-of-the-mill good season that we have been incapable of putting together for some reason.
