Last season's Orange Bowl team was a mirage

here are our wins in the mighty SEC last year
Vanderbilt - god awful and fired their coach, no bowl invite
South Carolina - god awful and fired their coach, bowl canceled
Tennessee - god awful and fired their coach, withdrew from playing in a bowl
Auburn - mediocre at best and fired their coach, got crushed in their bowl by Northwestern
Arkansas - bad to mediocre with a first year coach, bowl canceled
Mississippi State - bad to mediocre w/a first year coach, won bowl vs a mediocre Tulsa
LSU - mediocre at best and clearly not the same w/o Brady calling plays and Burrow at QB, did not play in a bowl
Florida - Great offense, terrible defense, got crushed in their bowl vs OU
We won 7 conference games against teams that went 0-9, 2-8, 3-7, 3-7, 4-7, 5-5 and 6-5. Our SEC wins were 1-2 in bowls with the lone victory coming against Tulsa. The only good win was vs 8-4 Florida and even that was aided by their TE Kyle Pitts being hurt for much of the game. Whenever that guy couldn't go Florida's offense turned to into a pumpkin.
If it was some ACC or Big 10 team with the same schedule everyone would be screaming to the hills at how easy it was and how that team didn't deserve to be ranked high or go to a NY6 game.
We didn't even get an opponent in the Orange Bowl that was overly impressive. UNC was probably the weakest Orange Bowl team is years and didn't even have the bulk of their offense play b/c they all opted out.

This is getting almost as bad as people that couldn't enjoy the 2016 sec championship in basketball because Billy Kennedy was the coach

Weakest since the year before Fisher won the national title, when FSU played Northern Illinois in the Orange Bowl.

This years team and last years team are not even remotely the same.
Last years offense had an older battle tested OL that made a world of difference and a QB who has been around and done everything for 4 years. A guy that a lot of people on this board didn’t give him enough credit (myself included at times) last year wasn’t a once in a lifetime season. It was a combination of good talent and older experienced guys.
We gotta accept that this year is gonna be tough with all the injuries and youth.

There is plenty of recent… and likely future failure… this season to talk about. No need to go backwards and speculate on how 2020 was really a failure. Come on man. All you can do is play the schedule you have. Last years results played into recruiting which was pretty damn great.
This season is in shambles and that is enough to talk about.
