I've mentioned before that in the past 21 seasons, he's coached for 12 different teams. That was a bit of concern to me. Plus, wasn't he unemployed for a year before he came to Mizzou?

Maybe there's a reason for that history.

He might work at a place like Alabama where the players are essentially already NFL ready. Mizzou will always be a developmental school for 2*,3* and occasionally 4* recruits. The type of assistant coaches for that are usually different than Wilks or Derek "I want my money" Dooley. A coach like Ryan Walters was a better fit than Wilks even if he didn't have the experience, at least the players are open to listening to him. They've obviously tuned Wilks out.
