I just do not understand abandoning the run the way we did.

It was baffling during the Colorado game, but I convinced myself it was somewhat important to get Calzada as many live looks as possible, and if you could do that and win the game, sure go for it. Win and move on, doesn't really matter what the MOV is.

But Jimbo truly seems convinced he can ride Calzada to glory. What the hell happened to the 2018 Jimbo that would run 40-45 times a game, even if you were only getting 2-3 yards at a time and protect a QB that couldn't win you most games?

To me it looks like we dont run more because we suck at it. We suck at it because we run block for shiite. That is true because we are toi young, beat up, and inexperienced on the Oline.

Excepting one run, what did we average? 2.45 yards per run. oooh! gimme more! Maybe I overapply Occam's razor here, but that truly seems to be the simple answer, and one that Fisher simply doesnt want to say out loud. I mean, can you imagine the hysteria if he said "we dont run more because our Oline sucks right now?"

Sure, Spiller may wiggle one loose after they think we have given up on the run, but in normal play we dont get squat because our OL is getting manhandled. So we try to pass because we can move the ball marginally better until such time as we shoot a hole in our foot by penalty, the dropsies, or by inability to throw the ball with any touch (resulting in deflection, interception, or nore dropsies.)

The defense had a bad half. The oline is awful, and the QB doesnt have tje skillset to make up for a bad line.

On another note, if Wydermyer is going to cry about not being targeted, he needs to catch the darn ball when he is. Put up or shut up.

It also seems like maybe we could use Achane a bit to get to an opening before it closed.
