Did anyone else hear this today. I am not knocking bama here but damn it was against a bad Arkansas team. ULM almost beat Arkansas for god's sake, sorry for the open wound. Good for bama but does anyone really believe this is a statement win. Wins over LSU, Auburn, Ga, or Fla; those are statement wins. Just sayin. Congrats Bama, looking forward to you're trip to Death Valley.

Logical bama fans knew hogs were down going into this game. I'll bet the farm Saban and his staff knew it. Look for Petrino, in time to right the ship up there. Bama gets a good guage next week as to how far they have progressed. Thus far I am impressed with bama.

No statement game yet but Bama normally just wins games they are supposed to this team is markedly better than last years team b/c they are pounding teams into submission that they should beat. Bama has a history of playing up and down to their competition. Most fans are happy right now just being in the conversation of competing for the west title. I think Florida is the best team in the conference and may run the table. By the time Ga plays Fla I think they may be too beat up. Im calling Fla as sec champs regardless of who they face in Atl. If you are going to bash the team for playing down to compo, you have to give them credit for not thrashing teams we are supposed too. Its a two way street. It was a statement that the players are finally starting to buy into Saban's system and philosophies and the idea that the days of playing down to compo is gone.

And Clemson was overated.Give me a frickin break.

fricking moron.
Every year there is one game where good teams play down, its going to happen. Look at LSU against Tulane last year? What about struggling with Ole Piss as well?
What about in '06 where you guys BARELY beat a 3-9 Ole Piss team at home in OT (I think it was OT)?
What about in '05 when you lost to a 5-6 UT team? Lemme guess...hurricane was the reason you blew a 21-3 lead? You struggled with Appy state as well..and it was a miracle you beat 4-7 Arkansas by 2.
Bottom line, you can look around the country, and every team, every year has atleast 1 game in the bag where they play down to competition.
The tide is turning.

When in the last 20 years has Clemson NOT been overrated?
You need to get comfortable with the arse kicking you have coming your way next week.

Auburn is over-rated this year.

I think their defense will keep them in nearly every game this year. Overrated yes, but certainly nothing to look past.

quote:Neither is Clemson...its safe to say both we good victories but both were over-rated. Auburn's defense is solid, but we didn't even know how good they were until tonight. They have played shite offenses and lackluster competition. LSU was the first semi test (I say semi due to lack of experienced QB) and they allowed 26 and LSU's OL overpowered them for the better part of the game.

I think we are good enough to beat anyone in the west but Clemson was not top 10, top 15 but not top 10 so they were slightly overrated however that does not diminish what Bama did and the manner in which they did it. Beating any top 25 team that soundly gives you instant cred and dont be fooled by many LSU fans, considering their ooc they would have been estatic with a beat down of a bcs conference school especially the one picked to win the Acc. Their big win over VT is probably their bigest factor for getting them in the NCG. (not that that will be a concern for Bama before any LSU fans have to remind me of the duldrums of BAMA football
) If we beat GA that will be a statement win as long as we beat a Ga team with a healthy stafford and Moreno.

Well, you can throw this out when you and them meet. Auburn and Alabama will play each other extremely tough, and the battle of the trenches will be a toss. If Auburn can limit the big runs by Alabama like they did against LSU then it will come down to QB play for Auburn and Alabama just like the LSU v Auburn game tonight.
Alabama certainly has an edge on special teams and defensive opportunities/aka taking advantage of mistakes.

1. Our OL is = or > than Auburn's front 7. That was proven tonight with LSU's OL getting a push throughout the game.
2. Our DL > Auburn's OL with Mount Cody at the helm. He is unblockable by 1 person and commands a double team.
If our OL stays healthy this year and we don't go through what we did last year, this Alabama team can accomplish alot.

Well all I am saying is that LSU was pretty dominant on both fronts tonight and somehow Auburn limited or held LSU to no big runs.
Posted on 9/21/08 at 3:22 am to ATLienTiger
I was at work but from what I could see they sold out on the run with no respect to the qb ability to pass the football. I really feel like this will be the trend when anyone plays LSU, Bama, AUburn
Posted on 9/21/08 at 3:26 am to labamafan
Last 2 drives you could tell LSU had completely wore out Auburn's O/D-lines. They were either blowing past them on defense, or shoving them aside on offense.
Posted on 9/21/08 at 3:49 am to ATLienTiger
with CS running that does not surprise me, until Au everyone else just gets out of his way. I like him.
Posted on 9/21/08 at 4:11 am to labamafan
It was a mix of him getting better, due to the commitment at the end as the game wore on and the defense getting tired.

you mentioned tulane, but we still blew them out. you did not mention ulm. we still put 40 points on ole miss last yr but you say we struggled. And yes clemson sucks
