They switched off for a moment. The Japanese player stole the ball, they didn't expect him to then lose it without a fight immediately after.

Initially I found upper deck tickets for that match at $300
Then both countries got a draw from an previous match and the tickets went up to $700 and then I didn't look again. Upper deck for those two countires even for $300 wasn't appealing to me.

New Zealand played the last 30+ minutes completely out of control and in a full on press.
Thats what Im telling myself, in part to settle nerves/convince myself
That it was just New Zealand after all, a not great defense.

Theres a difference between dribbling defenders and actually getting on the scoresheet.
Prior to tonight all they had was own goal, and the entire attack was blanked. But now 2 of their 3 biggest goal scoring threats got one, and their first attacking sub got one as well.

Ahhh, yeah, I forgot the keeper was further up field than the goal scorer or the defender.

Hope it was just shite Zealand and Belgium didn’t get right tonight. They opened up a 2nd half can.
That is sort of my fear. Trossard, KDB, and Lukaku all scored. If Doku had got going as well I'd definitely be nervous that their attack finally figured it out.

Did the VAR call check the Egypt player who was at the back post? That guy was closer to the goal then the one they animated for the offsides check.

The refs missing the calls is whatever to me, that's why you have VAR.
But when VAR doesn't recommend the official to go check the monitor for blatantly obvious errors is when it get ridiculous. And so far all the bad errors have gone the way of the higher ranked teams.

I think they want to get Havertz, Musiala, Sane minutes to round into form, since they missed large chunks of the season. As for the rest I dunno. Guess the manager wants continuity.

The officiating this WC worries me. There have been so many obvious fouls, card worthy instances, handballs, etc that have been missed and yet they all go on without being corrected.
Either VAR is not looking at plays, or they are just that bad at their job. Which is scary, because some future games will be decided by their ineptitude.

There was an obvious high kick, that made contact with the Ecuadorian players head. The referee missed it, which is whatever, but supposedly VAR took a look and somehow allowed it to stand.

The favoritism towards the bigger countries continues.
No way that goal ever should be allowed to stand if anyone actually looked at it.

re: How would you attack the low block?

Helps to have a playmaker in the midfield, namely on the wings, anyone who can dribble past the 1st defender.

Like I said in the whats the worst part about this WC thread, every questionable call is going in favor of the favorites each match. The refs and VAR are complicit in the screw job.

Am I the only one who doesn't really want Rogers, especially if he's meant to be the Left Wing replacement?

The Refs & VAR have been pretty bad. Theres been some obvious and blatant fouls/handballs/etc that the ref either missed, or refused to call, which VAR should have looked at and told them to go look at the monitor. But for whatever reason VAR refused to look at them, or even worse, they did check them and then cleared the infractions.

If it can get a player a 2nd yellow, or even a red then its tactics. If you can get someone on an early yellow then you can abuse them the rest of the match until they are subbed off for fear of getting a 2nd yellow.

Did he not have a hamstring issue the entire series?
The original post shite on the Spurs for going against teams who had injured players.
