Over 90% (maybe now over 95%) of Israel's population over the age of 65 have been vaccinated.

Ok.

Those same people are also the most susceptible to severe disease and death.

Yep.

Some people in this group will still die because they remain the most at-risk and when almost 100% of them have been vaccinated, it's kinda hard to have anyone die that isn't vaxxed.

So you admit vaxxed people are dying? Aren’t the at risk groups the ones who need to get vaxxed the most? It’s a shame that the vax doesn’t work good enough to prevent those deaths.

We understand. You want all the fat, diabetic, hypertensive folks to reverse their health trajectory before they get sick. This will save them all. Good luck with that realistic plan of yours.

The virus is going to hang around from now on just like every other highly contagious/low lethality seasonal virus. Are you saying people would be wasting their time losing weight and preventing other comorbidities? No one should waste time trying to get healthy, so that they can give themselves the BEST chance to survive?

You expect that out of 95% of the oldest, most physiologically susceptible population, none should die? Life doesn’t work that way. And you go on to assert that none of this same group has avoided hospitalization or death due to their decision to get vaccinated? That’s where you falter. You see things one way, and one way only. I get it. Flex, MOST of the people in that group have survived in part because of their decision to get vaccinated. It’s tough to be 75-80 years old and have a bunch of other stuff going on and then ask the vaccine to be 100% effective in bailing you and those like you out. But it has done its job for the majority as the data provided clearly shows.

No one is arguing getting healthy in the long term. That isn’t helping anyone who gets exposed in the next week or two or even the next few months. So what? They’re just collateral damage? No biggie? This will be around forever, no doubt. It will likely never be the “common cold” because of the vascular component. As long as it continues to come with clotting issues, it will always pose more risk than your average coronavirus, even to younger, healthy people. No amount of working out or healthy eating removes that aspect.

My grandmother is in the hospital with double pneumonia due to COVID right now. I'm awaiting the call that she's passed away. She's 93 and fully vaccinated.
