Injuries in the secondary could define the season. Brian George isn't remotely serviceable as a starting CB, but until Myles Jones heals up the only answer is a true freshman. We missed the starters on the DL. Fatheree needs to take over at LT, because JJ was borderline terrible. The rest of the OL did surprisingly decent, including true Freshman Foster at center.

King will be fine in time, and the WR's are at best meh, except for Chapman. Smith can get open as well, but his hands are rather suspect. This team will be good enough to challenge for a NY6 bowl but will get destroyed versus Alabama - again.

Little early for this take no? I think most of us expected there to be struggles in game 1

If we are having similar problems during the Arkansas game, I will be concerned.

I agree we need M. Jones back because George will get exposed against better talent. I would love to see Chappell get a look in these early games.

J. Johnson looks less athletic than D. Moore which is disappointing because we need to upgrade there.

On the positive side, C. Lane actually generated some good separation and caught the ball well.
Haynes was throwing strikes when he made good decisions.
Our RBs are absolutely nuts.
We were disciplined in pass coverage with basically no busts.

We played really sloppy for an entire half and still covered against a solid and experienced G5 team that’s favored to win its conference. Which is probably what you should expect from a super talented and inexperienced team in a season opener.
