I was a walk on QB during that 1989 season with him and he was just an amazing athlete! I recall prepping for Vanderbilt and their split back veer option one evening inside BDS. For some reason, Coach Curry would bus different groups over to the stadium at times to practice. We run inside veer to the left and I pull and decide to cut up into the hole. Keith clotheslines me, but grabs me before I hit the ground. The whistle blows and he sits me down and straightens my jersey and says “I’m gonna kill that MFer Saturday!” Low and behold, on the 2nd or 3rd snap, Keith knocks the QB out with a broken collarbone! The next afternoon in the team meeting room, I walk in and Keith just looks at me with this huge smile and says, “I told you!” Rest In Peace old friend!
