OU is one bad coaching hire from becoming Nebraska.

Defend this statement with actual facts. Please explain. Nebraska is a product of its own choices by going to the B1G. They were already in trouble when they left the Big 12 from a program standpoint, and then they go to another conference and completely kill the recruiting pipelines they established. If Lincoln Riley left tomorrow and they hire a turd for a season or three, the University of Oklahoma can and will bounce back from that. They'll still recruit the hell out of Texas and they will eventually land a solid head coach.

1. Oklahoma is a relatively small flyover state without a whole lot of attractions, much like Nebraska.

2. OU relies in large part on out of state talent (Texas) based on a well-established pipeline and history of success, much like Nebraska had with the west coast/California. Both Oklahoma and Nebraska are a bit underwhelming in terms of homegrown talent and could not sustain long-term success without access to out-of-state talent.

3. Both OU and Nebraska owe their legacies to the fortune of having legendary coaches at their helm for most of living memory: Wilkinson, Switzer, and Stoops for OU; Devaney and Osbourne for Nebraska. Riley so far appears on track to continue that legacy for OU. To my point, the three coaches between Switzer and Stoops mustered just a .500 record at OU’s helm across a full decade from 1989 and 1998.
