The Georgia portion of this alone has probably been pushed by the military for a while.
A trip from Gordon to Benning currently means going 20 to Atlanta, dealing with Atlanta, then going down 85 and 185 to Columbus. Out of the way and filled with traffic.
A Robins to Benning trip is either driving on literally 2 lane roads (which I imagine is not allowed) or driving due north on 75 to Atlanta then back down 85.
