ear it down and start over. That’s the best improvement outcome

Not on college campuses with history. You can modify and have the same effect. Baylor had Drayton "FU Money" McClain and built a new stadium. It is super nice but it is actually quiet small. real small.

What makes Ole Miss special is the close proximity of the grove and the stadium.

This. In fact, they should tear down those two bland 1960's style buildings (Hume, Shoemaker) and extend a new grove to the stadium. You could find donors to donate machine move mature oak trees and have their name plaques on them and as their tailgating spot. I'm sure there would be some big interest for that. Im thinking easily 100k+ per tree and spot right next to the stadium.

Agreed, they really missed the mark by not mirroring the South end zone last round. It just looks like 4 different puzzle pieces smashed together

IMO, that's fine for a college stadium. It's a remembrance conversation piece, or if done right, can be an interest as a marker for growth. Bryant Denny is large and symmetrical, but kind of bland, Jordan Hare, bland. Tiger stadium is large with 4 different sides and facades is more interesting to me. The Swamp, Sanford, more interesting. Just my opinion though.

The common man's game in the South is no more.

I sort of agree. But trends dictate a lot of things. Personally, I hate large jumbo trons. Before those, stadiums were constantly loud. Now it's cheer, shut up watch the replay, start cheering again. it really takes the fan out of the game vs when there use to be a constant buzz in stadiums.

Why would people want to pay a ton of money to stand on a patio in the stadium with horrible views of the field when you can sit in the Grove during the game for free and drink for free and watch the game with a better view on tv. I can understand it being a place to go during halftime but I don't see the benefit of these spaces during a game.

Some people just want to be seen and not really there for a game to begin with. And you know this is true with every fan base and especially ole miss. My spouse isn't a bulldog and would go to a game with me, but I'm sure if she had a lounge where she could visit with friends and others casual fans or likes, she probably would. Also, bringing corporate types to a game. This is big.

Bill Snyder Family Stadium

Nice steep angles to get you close to the field in some sections and the open area is nice but that's another small stadium.

quote:

The thing I love the most about VHS is no upper decks. You couldn’t pay me to watch a home game from an upper deck and really hate having to do it for away games.

I laugh when certain fans argue about having 100k stadiums. So what? Upper deck views suck. Davis Wade has upper deck but nothing like LSU's, A&M, and the likes. State stills has decent views from up there. I'd rather sit home than watch a game in the nosebleed seats of Tiger stadium.

Last comment:
Vaught Hemingway's facade is way too bland for your campus. Also, the new pavilion is in a horrible location.

Anyway, found this as an interesting thread and provided and extra $.02.
