Same reason so many were happy with the Harsin hire: we’ve all seen the effects of decades of inbreeding in the AU Athletic Dept (and for that matter AU in general) and see these as tentative steps towards a more meritocratic, businesslike approach.

Of course they both run the risk of failing, which will no doubt bring back the “we should have kept it in the fambly” crowd. Maybe if we run AG off we can get JJ back.

Make no mistake bro, no matter what system is in place, there will always be "inbreeding" as you put it. Just look at the Harsin hire. He basically brought his entire staff with him. With changes, you are basically doing that. You are changing one group of guys for another.

Auburn has had a system for many years that basically worked for them. If you remove that group of guys and bring in a new group, they will bring people, systems, etc with them that they are a custom to.

It is like swapping women. You just get a different set of problems.
