The 05-07 teams were poorly coached and handicapped by a pedestrian passing game.
McFadden put Arkansas on his back because Nutt was doing what he could to run him into the ground. Other players had better coached teams with more innovative offenses which made easier to put up better numbers and win the heisman.
McFadden did get some help but he helped the likes of Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis more so than him. The offense line was one of the best in run blocking yes but in pass blocking they were below average.
McFadden was up against tough defenses but he was still going to get his yards. The best way is to slow him down, put Arkansas in third down situations and watch a very predictable Nutt playcall.
He is one of the best in Arkansas history just isn't as decorated as the likes of Lance Alworth or Dan Hampton.
