UGA could either be MNC favorites, or out of the discussion as an also-ran after week one. Will be the game to watch that first week

Neither team will be out of the discussion with a loss, unless it's just a complete arse kicking.

There is a certain degree of daddy ball that's been going on at Clemson and it's been a bit frustrating. We have some very talented younger LBs that should be starting getting playing time over guys like Jake Venables.

Dabo has built his program on loyalty. Where would he be without his DC?

Very well could be a playoff game for Clemson. The rest of their schedule is so incredibly soft that they might not make the top 4 if they lose to UGA and run the table.

Avoid UNC, Miami, and ND this year.

Loyalty is a good trait, but that doesn't mean he should be giving scholarships to every coach's son. Especially since some of them should be playing at Wake Forrest.

I don't follow Clemson recruiting, even a little, but Herbie's boys are down there and you had Gene Stalling's grandson as well. A who's who of famous offspring.

The recruiting is great. It's just a matter of putting the best players and athletes on the field. This is something that I'm starting to believe we're not doing.

Then Clemson will lose to someone like Maryland and everyone will give them a pass.

I honestly dont understand the fascination with Clemson this year. Their Dline is not dominate they have 2 talented guys. Breese and Murphy are good but nothing our oline cant handle. Henry was suppose to be a star but pretty much hasnt been, They return a senior rb that had 190 yards at 4.5 a carry. They return very little at wr and their oline is garbage. DJ will be a star but lets see how he fares with a bad oline and very little help offensively. This team shouldnt scare anyone. They could lose a couple of ACC games.

100% truth.

Irrelevant, I don't subscribe to this line of thinking.

Factors for GA:

Defense- line is solid, linebackers solid.
Young DB's have to grow up fast. The transfer from Clemson is good but his presence on the field could give Clemson a little extra motivation to punish him. He's not a great tackler. Clemson knows this, and will draw up run plays aimed right at him.

Offense- line solid, running backs solid.
With Pickens out, JT doesn't have his 50/50 ball guy to sling it up to. He's got solid receivers but he lost the elite guy that could make the catch even if JT's throw was a little off, even if double teamed, Pickens makes the catch. If you look at JT's ridiculous stats in the last 4 games he played, Pickens was the majority of it. Can Arik Gilbert be that guy? Can someone else on the roster step up from good to great to elite?

Special Teams-
With Pickens out, will UGA risk keeping Kearis Jackson (WR) on kick return duty? He has been an excellent returner, but we might not have him available for that duty. So who would it be? In a close game, things like starting field position and turnovers matter, alot.
Podlesny has proven so far to be a very good kicker. The vast majority of his FG's hit, and the vast majority of his kickoffs result in touchbacks. In a close game, stupid things like field position actually matter.

Summary- If Pickens hadn't torn his ACL this Spring, the line would look alot different than it does now. I think it's going to be a great game, and will end very closely. We also need to see who else gets hurt or arrested between now and then.

UGA wins this game by 7pts. We are just too loaded at every position and without sign stealing, Clemson D is not as elite as they seem.

Clemson is currently favored. Where are you getting +4?

I saw it as low at +2. However, it will probably drop to pickem by game time.

It sure seems Dabo is not putting the team first by eshewing portal transfers. I know it's a matter of principle with him and I get the point he's making but I can't see it helps overall.
