Yep.

Look at the past couple years; 2019, LSU was in, and UGA was on the cusp. 2020, Bama was in, and Florida was in consideration.
Go to 12, and both are in for sure. But with a a bad loss in the SEC championship, then one of those teams might be in trouble. Doesn't help the conference at all, doesn't help the team either.

If there's a real question about who's better, go ahead and settle it in the playoffs.
