If you can't get 4 yards a pop on the dive play in that system then your entire offensive play tree gets wrecked. You can still be effective, but that system is only dominant when defenses have to overload the box to stop the staple play. When that happens AND you have a mobile QB then it's terrifying.
Auburn had road grading OLs in 2010 and 2013.

I know the line play went way down for sure, but at least a more mobile QB can alleviate some of that with option plays out of shotgun. Seems like Gus thought he could imitate what Bama was doing, but our receivers could produce and block on the edges.
