That’s also a fair point. For the most part closers get saves not wins because they come in when their team is winning already. Kopps is a bit different in that regard because he is hardly a traditional closer.

Also, because it’s impossible for a pitcher to get a save and a win in the same game, the pitcher would have to have at least 20 appearances on the year (not too difficult) and at least 10 of those have to start with a lead and 10 have to start tied or from behind (more difficult) Fortunately, because Kopps is a reliever and not a starter, he has a higher likelihood of his appearances resulting in win/loss decisions, and this is amplified by the fact that he’s not a traditional closer, which would take away from his number of W/L decisions.

So thinking about it that way, Kopps is truly in the perfect position to put up that kind of split in those two categories, and maybe it’s less likely than I originally thought someone has double digits in both
