The rumor is Schnucks Grocery Stores (STL based). His dad works for them so its rumored he is already talking to them about working out a deal.

I don't know all the ins and outs of NIL....in fact, I don't know any....but a player can make NIL deals anywere ans with anybody they want, can't they? Or are they tied to local deals only? Local meaning local to the team they sign with. Also, (Just to me) I would think they have to sign a NIL deal AFTER they get to colllege as high schools would not have NIL deals, and signing one during their school year would make them inelgibile on the high school level?

Just guessing. Like I said....I know very little about NIL.

Yes they could sign a NIL deal anywhere. But if im a local company, schnucks for the example, Im only signing kids that are also playing at a school where I offer my stores (MO, IL, IN, WI). Thats my opinion and marketing background kicking in. Now I guess they could also sell it as "One of our own made it out and every time he comes home he shops with us".

Yes they have to wait till college to sign deals but if he has them pre worked out, it will determine where he signs in theory.

Man, I would love to believe this; but it sounds a bit like someone (not saying you) just started speculating because Dad works there and it spawned a rumor. I'm just having a tough time thinking a guy playing for MU would be of much use in Schnucks marketing.

In fact, it brings up a bigger issue and one which we get criticized about often around here, and that is because the state has quite a few (and often successful) pro sports teams to follow Missourians don't pay that much attention to the Tigers on a relative basis. Concerns me with the NIL sweepstakes becoming a factor in recruiting.

This came from an insider (another site) that is pretty locked in with the MU athletic department.

quote:

Visit went very well. He has a very large family and driving to half of his games is much more feasible than flying to all of them. He hung out with Horn and the rest of the commits were at Drink’s house Sunday morning. Word that I’m getting is that his father is all in on Mizzou and is actually working out a NIL deal with local companies right now (Schnucks)

I think it’s looking pretty good for the Tigers

This guy doesn't miss very often when he posts this information. One of the few "insiders" that I actually trust. Let's bring it home Tigers. M-I-Z!

Yep.

Also I dont think this is saying a deal will be in place, but more so that his dad seems to think/know it will be mizzou so is starting to kick the tires on NIL deals he could help with.

Okay. I guess my next question would be where are y'all getting your information from? (That he is working these deals out)

Its from a mizzou guy who is really plugged in with the stl community(esp black players)

His dad is a famous bball player in the area, so im sure he has a lot of ties, and his dads best friend - Luthers "supervisor" played for mizzou back in the day. Im sure this info got out rather easily.

**Supervisor's not the word, I cant think of it. He's had someone kind of help him with sports, and to stay out of trouble since a young age**

Wait a minute....we were told in this thread that we cannot listen to insiders or connected people. They can't be trusted. Is it just Georgia insiders/connected people that can't be trusted?

I am so confused!

FTR....I have no problem with people bringing info like this to the board. I just find the double standard a bit odd.

Well, sorry, but I think it is a silly take. This board is for information. I mean, most of what we get is from sportswriters and half the time is incorrect, anyway. They stretch what they know to drive clicks for whomever they work for.

I don't like pure personal speculation....but actual stuff gotten through a semi-reliable grapevine? I'm okay with it. And if the other poster says his source is good the vast majority of the time? Ok. I don't like stuff people just make up out of thin air or stating stuff as fact when it is speculation.

That said....kudos to you for being consistent.

I work with a guy who is really plugged in with MU sports. He donates generously. Always sitting courtside at BB games, sidelines for football games. Was not a player, but was involved with the program in some capacity years ago when he went to school there. I think he even chairs an academic alumni board for one of the schools.

Anyway, my point is this...over the years whenever there was some big speculation about something with the sports programs, be it a recruit or whatever, and he's given me some inside scoop, he's been wrong about 90% of the time.

So no offense to anyone...I take everything I hear with a grain of salt. Doesn't mean I mind hearing about it though...a guy can dream!
