Per LSU website: During World War II, LSU was one of the top four schools producing officers for the U.S. Armed Forces. (The other schools were Texas A&M, West Point, and Annapolis). LSU had more than 5,000 former students serving as officers
FYI, On A&M: During World War II, Texas A&M produced 20,229 soldiers, sailors, and Marines for the United States' war effort; of these, 14,123 were officers, more than the combined total of the United States Naval Academy and the United States Military Academy and more than three times the totals of any other Senior Military College.
I enjoyed reading LSU’s military history. Great history!
