In 25 years Shug won 1 SEC title. Hard to believe he has a stadium named after him with only 1 SEC title

Back then, scheduling was unbalanced.

Shug went 10-0 in 1957 and 9-0-1 in 1958.

After Tech left conference, Auburn kept the game.
In 1972, AU beat Bama head to head, however, technically Bama had one more win(over Vandy) and same amount of losses so they “won” the SEC.

SEC teams did not play a standard number of games until late 1970s or early 1980s.

Shug was more of a man than any man I’ve seen that was a football coach.

Auburn was probably the best team in the SEC in 1972.

It did take a fluke plays to beat Alabama

And? It was still easier to win the conference or at least get a share of the title back then.I will say the SEC scheduling Gods weren't very kind to Auburn with Bama,UGA,UT and UF on their schedule every year I believe
