You must not recall much of the Grant years if you don't see the value in always having contingency plans for unexpected departures or recruiting misses.

People talk about his offense being the thing that killed us, but this was the biggest reason in my opinion. The dude would swing for the fences, finish as the kid's second choice, and had no plan B. I've said it before, but his biggest downfall was that he was too good of a guy to succeed at a high-major program. He never over-recruited and never played the recruiting game. It seemed like every year we'd go into the season with 3 unfilled scholarships which puts your team on thin ice where injuries are concerned.
