I don’t think anyone would disagree that tournament is king. But regular season wins aren’t valueless.

By using the OP’s criteria - regular season conference championships weighing more than tournament championships - we see that regular season wins matter. I don’t think it’s illogical to conclude that they should be considered when evaluating the strength of a program over a period of time.

I think they matter and should be included in some (small) way. On a deep dive I'd add in some sort of penalty for sub-500 seasons (-5 or something).

But in the grand scheme of things it wouldn't change much I don't think.

I wouldn't have a problem with a ranking that involved them but you would have to make them very low value compared to tournament finishes imo

Well, I don't really agree with him on that so I won't defend it.
