Im thinking draftability and money. If he's Spencer Torkelson, yeah that doesnt matter at first, but if he can somehow show he can play right, his value could sky rocket.
Frangraphs updated their draft rankings this week and he is in the top 10 for 23, which is expected since he stupidly went undrafted last year.

Smith was actually pretty good through 7. Definitely dont want him as out SEC Friday night guy, but if he can be our Sunday guy, we would be looking great pitching wise.

Yeah I’m just worried he will run into the Michael Curry situation: had the yips behind the plate so he just became a career DH and then tried to adjust to RF in the minors too late
