Where do I sign up? I'll happily trade a minor speed bump like a few days without electricity for independence from DC. You do do realize part of the reason we are here are due to EPA regulations from the federal government.

That is straight up false.

Power plant owners being too cheap and lazy to make sure their infrastructure can handle extreme cold weather has frick all to do with EPA regulations.

This is essentially a Titanic situation where they were told there could be a problem if A B and C happened and they decided "Nah, watertight compartments that go all the way to the top of the ship and enough lifeboats for everyone on board are too expensive and will cut into our profits. Why pay for redundancies for something that might never happen?"

widespread power losses during an extended period of historically low temperatures leading to actual deaths isnt a speed bump. its a total failure by our leaders who need to answer for this situation
