Not sure what the second baseman is bringing to the table. Struggles hitting an can't field

Savannah has been (for the most part) solid defensively at second base. She’s a sophomore who did not see a lot of playing time last year and if Dowling was not hurt, she would be in a backup role this year. She’s been tagged with 2 errors to date and has had some untimely bobbles that were not tagged as errors. She has also made some fantastic plays in her short time at second base. Yesterday in the 5th inning, everyone seemed to lose their minds (including senior Tow; graduate Clark; junior Fouts). She definitely needs to up her batting ( .273 on a team that’s averaging .302) but she’s currently got a better average than Claire and Maddie (admittedly not a good measuring stick). There has been some ballpark chatter by the negaMurphys of moving Alexis to the infield* (where she apparently played at Oregon) and maybe Kayla Davis or Kat Grill to the outfield. Murphy has a juggling act on his hands for the rest of the season. Didn’t fully appreciate how much Claire’s leadership would be missed in the infield when she went down. I doubt we would have seen the same 5th inning debacle that we saw yesterday. Happy to get a W out of it. Let’s get another W today! Roll Tide!

*clarifying that this proposed move would be Mack replacing Clark in the infield and not Woodard

I did not realize Alexis Mack played infield at Oregon. I seems like a reasonable move to try her at SS since her BA is higher than Clark's defense might also improve. Moving Kat Grill to RF and KB Sides to LF would would be an offensive improvement but I wonder about the affect on defense. Just my two cents.
