He was a good player for us, but I'm shocked he landed at A&M. I don't know what y'alls OT situation is, but just on the face of things I wouldn't have expected him to be a starter at a program like A&M.

As far as what the issue was with our OL, part of it was that Friend isn't a very good coach, but the overwhelming majority of the issue is that the way Jarrett Guarantano was playing last year made everybody on that offense worse. He's not accurate on short or middle routes, and he can't process the field, and he throws late unless its a deep ball. He was never worth the 4 stars he got out of HS, where he played shite in a shite league. So naturally once teams realized that, Tennessee became a really easy team to defend over a full game. Harrison Bailey wasn't even properly ready and when he came in, our offense was instantly better.

We are replacing 4 multi-year starters on the OL so we are in for a total reset. We have a ton of good young guards and centers with lots of talent.

We have no experience at tackle returning and very little in the way of quality depth. I expect Johnson to be a day 1 starter at tackle. He may get passed up later in the year by a younger, more talented player but I think his experience will win out early.
