I saw one of the people who cover the team say this a few days ago.. "The OL coach can only go after who he's allowed to go after". If that sounds familiar, its because its the same thing we heard under Gus. No telling if its true, but if Harsin is only letting him go after certain guys, then its hard to fully blame Friend for that.

Well, we could’ve signed a 4* yesterday and let him walk, so who knows

I can’t believe we’re rehashing this rumor with a different HC and OL coach.
There is no way that our problems w OL stem from that way of thinking.
Now whether Friend is a top OL Coach/recruiter that I don’t know. If he was part of Bobo’s hire then Harsin will not keep him around if he isn’t producing in both critical areas.
But let’s not put this on Harsin already. He knows the line group is not strong and must be addressed. He’s not going to fall on that sword like Gus was doing.

Every head coach sets standards and characteristics of the type of player they are looking for. Then it’s up to all the coaches to go find those players.
If a player was rejected you can bet the homework was done on that player. Now to move up in talent Harsin and OL Coach will need to prove some things and get linemen to the NFL. Also, now it will also count on NIL funding as well.
