Here's something you rival fans of Alabama can (potentially) hang your hats on...

Bear Bryant signed his highest rated recruiting class in 1980 - just a month removed from winning his sixth and final national championship at Alabama. Nick Saban just signed the highest rated recruiting class since ratings began being kept as it pertains to recruiting - just one month after winning his sixth national championship at Alabama (and his seventh overall). Perhaps history will repeat itself?

Not unless Nick Saban drops dead sometime in the next thirty days.

Show us the recruiting rankings from +40 yrs ago? I'd love to see who the big programs were pulling back then.

UGA didn't win the natty in 1979, Alabama did. Then, after the title game (played on 1/1/1980), Alabama signed the 1980 class.

You guys lost your ENTIRE offensive line

You guys lost all of your good receivers except one

You guys lost your lockdown corner

You guys lost your best D-Lineman

You guys lost your best linebacker

You lost your starting QB

You lost your starting RB

Bama fans, you're taking a step back next year. It's ok, it's just one year. UGA will be next year's version of the Joe Burrow LSU squad. We are going to beat you easily.

Hell, we almost beat you with a walk-on QB.

You're not going to win the SEC next year.

You're not going to the playoffs next year.

Sorry

Sharp enough to see that the OP was correct.

Maybe you'll be that sharp someday.

Who won the natty in 1980 after Bear’s #1 class

I swear to god some of y’all have zero sense of humor

You don't know much. Three offensive linemen that started the Natty game return. We have three experienced good receivers back in Metchie Billingsley and Bolden. RB wise Alabama will be absolutely loaded. It will come down to how ready the QB is.

Defensively Alabama has experience everywhere. This unit will be much much better and far deeper, probably the strength of the team early on. As much as 8 or more deep up front. Linebacker could be the strength of the team and experience is everywhere in the secondary.

Not to mention as good a kicker as anyone has in the country. If Chase Young performs as well as advertised by mid season Bama could be very very tough once again.
