bullshite. He actually beat five teams ranked in the top 25 at the time they played...South Carolina (11), Northwestern (12), Florida (19), Georgia (25) and Nebraska (24). Pruitt only beat two. You don't think we laughed our asses off at Dooley and Pruitt? Derek Dooley...the architect of the 6-2-5 defense? Derek Dooley, with his instructions on proper showering techniques? And Pruitt? Pretty much every Bama fan has known all along that when Jeremy Pruitt isn't coaching defense on a football field, he's dumber than a box of rocks. But Butch is the one that gets all the hate.

Lane Kiffin is the one who literally caused you to end up with Derek Dooley. Orgeron admitted that he called Tennessee recruits the night Kiffin resigned, and only the most naive would think that Kiffin didn't know. Kiffin is responsible for pushing Tennessee over the edge into the abyss that you're in now...but you guys all love Kiffin and hate Butch with the fire of a thousand suns.

Look, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Butch did a terrific job at Tennessee. I'm not saying he didn't make absurd statements and lose games that he could have and should have won. And I'm not saying he shouldn't have been fired. I get all that. I would have wanted him fired too. What I'm saying is that it's irrational to have such a personal hatred for the guy, when he was actually the best of the three, and he didn't get you in the NCAA shitter. And I'm not just directing that toward you personally. It's an attitude that the entire fan base seems to share.

If I was a Vol fan, although I certainly would have been frustrated with Butch and wanted him fired, I wouldn't hate the guy personally. I'd be far more likely to hate Pruitt for what he's done.

But the guy I would really hate would be Kiffin. He's the one who talked about singing Rocky Top all night and then left you in the dead of night. He's the one who tried to steal your recruits the night he left. He's the one who left you at a time of year when finding a quality replacement was pretty much impossible. He's the one who pushed you over the cliff into the abyss. But all you guys still love him. It really is like a battered spouse.
