Turns out that contract was ahead of its time as the next great recruiting gimmick. $7.5 million sounds about right for what we would have paid a guy not named Jimbo for a year like we had.

How much will Coach O get in ten years? So he gets the equivalent of 6 million per year for 6 years. You'll keep him ten. He is the 60 million dollar plus man for Louisiana. Impressive. You just don't have the stroke that aTm has when it comes to pay. I'm going to laugh a bit at what you play Coach O. Yeah, he did get a natty. And he is being handsomely rewarded as he should be. Life is good for the "successful" college head coach.
