Texas 4* kid out of high school who was committed under Chad, but, for whatever reason, never went to a Big time school and ended up landing at Charlotte where he apparently started and played all year.
Big body OT who hit the portal today.
I'd say he's a first big target to hit the portal that we actually have a shot at, it's a huge position of need.

Ended up at Charlotte due to academics. Lot of schools didn’t think he would qualify

As someone who has no idea about ncaa compliance, how in the world does a kid that highly rated from a real football factory Texas HS, be in jeopardy of qualifying academically for any major college?
I genuinely don't understand. Is it a courseload failure or is is just really really shitty grades? And if that was the case, how did he get accepted to any D1 ege at all and avoid the Juco ranks.
If it's strictly a course load deal, then that counselor at his HS and/or his HS head coach are either to blame severely or did he just ignore all the recommended college prep courses in HS and just coast for the hell of it?

He is exactly what we are looking to will the last remaining spots with. Will have to fight off bigger name schools to get him. I'm not sure if him being committed before helps or hurts us.

I may be wrong on this but I think he was headed to JUCO until the NCAA passed a waiver for this year disregarding some academic requirements for incoming freshmen but by then most schools didn’t have an available scholarship for him. Not sure what that has to do with being accepted into a college though. I read where the Texas A&M OL coach who recruited him there ended up at Charlotte so he followed him.
It sounds like we have a good shot but also that same OL coach is now at Kansas so Danny posted that the Jayhawks are also a contender.
