Loaded roster every year only to be spanked by one of their SECW daddies. I mean just imagine not witnessing a championship season since the 80s or ever for a lot of them, damn....

And where is Iowa ? Consistent 1st round lineman and TE in the nation and 7/8 wins are your ceiling! I must say the salute to the children’s hospital is one of the coolest traditions in all of sports though

This is just lazy posting. Do you honestly think there are not around 115+ plus teams with fans that would rather be eliminated before the season starts than being in the hunt and playing for a national championship.

UGA-Penn State in the 1983 Sugar Bowl (after the '82 season) was for the national title. We were ranked #1 for the last 5 weeks of the season before losing to Penn State. PSU vaulted to #1 after their win.
Not sure what other year he refers to, maybe '81 when we finished 2nd in the final polls.

We were also ranked #2 heading into the 81/82 bowl season behind Clemson who had beaten us. We played a highly ranked pitt in the sugar bowl so you could easily argue that had we won and Clemson lost we'd be crowned champions. Granted we did lose but the point I'm making is that you could certainly argue that was a "playing for a national title" type bowl game.
