best 'other' offensive player, biggest win, biggest upset and or deflating loss for each decade for 'your' team. I've seen posts from fans from every school in the SEC except Vanderbilt,so since I grew up pulling for the Commodores,I'll take a stab with them...

1970's:
QB: Fred Fisher (two winning seasons, bowl and win at UT)
Offense: Frank Mordica --set SEC single game rushing record with 321 yds in 1978 vs Bill Parcells' Air Force team
Defense: LB Ed Smith
Win: 24-10 win over then #8 Florida in 1974
Loss: 27-14 to Citadel in 1979
---------------------------------
1980's
QB: Whit Taylor
Offense: Keith Edwards WR
Defense: Chris Gaines
Win: 1982 Tennessee
Loss:1988 Ole Miss
----------------------------------
1990's
QB: Marcus Wilson
Offense:Corey Harris
Defense: Jaime Duncan
Win: 1994 43-30 over Georgia
Loss: 44-7 to SMU

I'm craving some SEC trivia/nostalgia.What do you have ?

LSU - I'll cover the 70s and 80s. I worked overseas for most of the 90s and couldn't follow the Tigers as closely as I'd liked:

1970s:

QB - Bert Jones
Other Offense - Brad Davis
Defense - Willie Teal
Win - 1971 Notre Dame, 28-8
Loss - 1979 USC, 12-17

1980s:

QB - Tommy Hodson
Other Offense - Eric Martin/Dalton Hilliard
Defense - Henry Thomas
Win - 1988 Earthquake Game
Loss - Miami (1986 of Ohio; 1988 of Florida)

I'll throw a few out for AU.

1970's - Before my time really but,
QB: Pat Sullivan (no brainer)
Offense: Terry Beasley
Defense: Don't know
Win: 1972 Bama (Punt Bama Punt)
Loss: 1971 Bama (Both teams came into the game undefeated and Bama waxed AU) I think this is the correct year.

1980's - Ok I like this decade
QB: Reggie Slack - We never had great qb play b/c we ran the ball so much but Slack got it done. Honorable mention to Randy Campbell in 1983
Offense: Bo Jackson (obviously)
Defense: Greg Carr (All American middle linebacker and the heart and soul of th '83 team)
Win: A decade of so many huge and program changing victories with national implications all have to take a back seat to 1989 AU over Bama.
Loss: 1985 Bama (Van Tiffen)

1990's:
QB: Damion Craig (could do it all and carried the team many games)
Offense: Steven Davis
Defense: Takeo Spikes (dominant MLB)
Win: 1993 win over #1 ranked Gators and Danny Wuerfel and Spurrier on the way to an undefeated season
Loss: 1994 Bama where Frank Sanders came up 1 inch short on 4th down and the 20 game unbeaten streak was stopped.

That's my take on AU for the time periods above.

Good stuff,Moose. Welcome aboard.

Williams was tremendous. I was in middle school with my dad in Starkville watching Rockey Felker run all over Vandy when they announced that Memphis State win over Ole Miss. You can imagine that reaction.

Ken Cooper came so close in the mid 70's.Lose to Memphis State, beat Alabama.Lose to a terrible Auburn team, beat Georgia. Same with Notre Dame.

1990's
QB: Wayne Madkin, not a great QB but he won.

He put over 400 yds passing one day on Bear at Legion Field. Was he a transfer ? For some reason I don't remember him a 4 yr player.

I think 'John Bond' typed in on an LSU website should have the same results as something with the 'profanity filter'. Don Smith was a pretty good QB,too.

It was a close vote for me, but I had to go with Sleepy. It was a shame that he was lost for the season against Florida in 1992. What might have been if we would have had him against Alabama and Ole Miss that season instead of having to use a 3rd string QB.
