Why is the offensive line so much better this year?

With essentially the same personnel, and mostly players that were already upperclassmen last season, why has there been such a noticeable improvement?

What do our 2 best teams in the SEC have in common? Great offensive lines and very good defensive lines. 2012 and 2020. If you can’t win the LOS in this league you are screwed.

1) Experience across the board (seniors)

2) young talent with one year experience (Green)

3) talent under center much improved

Jimbo has a clear emphasis on OL/DL recruiting. It’s not sexy but it’s how you build programs that can win 10+ a year every year regardless of turnover. An elite OL can make a sophomore QB with limited experience look like Payton manning. An elite DL can make a soft secondary look serviceable.

And we have more depth than we have had in a long time which is very important.
