Georgia needs to pay close attention as they matriculate to the spread air raid scheme in earnest with the JT Daniel's show. The defense lines up against these spread principles every day in practice. They develop that particular muscle memory. Soon, the defense isn't always working on tackling and wrapping up against runners going downhill in a phonebooth. Repetition has the guys chasing and getting misaligned through constant shifts and motions used to misdirect the eyes, playing fast, and now they are a step behind instead of being able to just cut them off at the pass. Before you know it, even fundamental things that have been second nature aren't so fundamental.

Cheer up, it doesn't have to be as ridiculously bad as Pelini is making it look, but even Aranda was holding his once-vaunted defense together with a brand new set of expectations last season. The second year in these spread concepts and even old fundamentals ingrained in defensive players have melted into organized chaos.

With the spread offense comes the spread defense.
