I don’t know why I’m going to respond to this earnestly but here goes.
I find that college football is really only akin to European soccer in that a fan can derive as much enjoyment from rooting for teams which expect no success as rooting for teams for which success is a given. The expectations are key—do you lose to an obviously better team from time to time? Sure, but you don’t sweat that and focus instead on slowly climbing a ladder.
I don’t expect all that many wins from UK football and when we do win, I am as pleased as a UGA fan might be with an objectively more consequential win. That said, UGA expectations are consistently sky high, and they consistently fall short. You’re constantly nervous about a let down instead of excited for each win. As a result, I’d argue that I, a UK football fan, derive considerably more enjoyment from college football than a UGA football fan.
