I have been fortunate to know some folks from Louisiana and "cajun stupid" is pretty damned smart. Seriously. Its a lot like hill billy stupid....it takes a damn genious to raise a family in Applachia while any fool can make a million $ in Atlanta. This is a huge part of the divide in this country today. Most people like to general idea of equal treatment under the law, equal opportunity for everyone, and a reasonable safety net for those who truly need it...but no one appreciates being called an idiot, especially when the person doing it is behaving idiotically. The whole coastal elite thing is real...trust me, I live among 'em. While we share almost the same view of social justice their ignorance of what is in the heart and mind or a person from Macon, Georgia, as an example, is as ignorant as ignorant gets...yet they will insult that person and act surprised when that person is insulted. This is true of people in the south....most do not like social injustice....but they like being called deplorable simply because they are not in lockstep with some shite that is out there...and often way out there....even less, especially when it is done by someone who has no idea what they are talking about. The only group of people in this country it is truly OK to attack is rural people....white, brown, black...it makes no difference....if you live in a rural area, maybe sound like you live in one, and god forbid hold some values typical of those areas, even while allowing for the fact that there are injustices in the world, you are less than human. That is insulting and you shouldnt be shocked when the insulted is insulted.
