I would definitely call it more spread than air raid. Okie state specifically had a very good running game under Monken and so did southern miss. He utilized traditional shotgun formations and empty sets along with pistol and diamond formations. Pistol and diamond particularly were very effective run formations

You could be right. I just seem to remember them throwing the ball between 45-60 times a game. that seems more air raidish to me. I'd have to look at the box scores more closely to see for sure, though.
