Great offenses seem to shred great defenses the last few years. I don’t know what is going on but look at the points scored in the last few years of playoff games.
It's cyclical. I mean, Auburn's offense was shredding defenses, too, until adjustments were made. Innovations come and go both on offense and defense. What works today might not work tomorrow.
quote:I get what you are saying to a point, but that is exactly the philosophy Oklahoma has taken the past few years, and now you are seeing them trend back toward defense. I mean in order to be successful you should have a very good defense, too. I don't remember the last time a championship team had a really bad defense. LSU's defense struggled early in the year because of the speed their offense scored, but adjusted and improved steadily as the year went along.
Any really good team has to have a great defense, but lately no one seems to be able to stop elite offenses. In today’s game I would take an elite offense over an elite defense.
Hey. It's just my opinion. I just think if teams go all out for offense they will find it difficult to win. It really takes both. the reason defenses have not seemed to be as dominant is because of the innovations the offenses have made. Defenses will change and begin stopping the offenses again soon, imo.

Don't know about that.
The rules clearly favor the offense and with the vast amount of work QB's and WR's put in during the off season they are more skilled and ready to play than ever. There really wasn't much innovative about LSU's offensive last year as much as highly skilled guys playing at a high level
