Why can 18 year olds be considered responsible enough to vote for President, join the military and fight in a war for us, open credit accounts, buy a home, get married, buy cigarettes, but not buy a drink?

i'd always heard there was a physiological reason for this. something to do with the brains physical development.

if thats the case its reasonable.

Because LA would lose out on tens of millions each year if we chose to do that.

(Federal govt. + MADD = 21 y/o drinkers)

I may be wrong, but I heard that 18 yr olds can buy and consume alcohol as long as it is on base?
