SC checks off a lot of boxes needed for success:
- passionate fanbase
- top notch facilities (much needed recent upgrades in and around WB)
- SEC conference membership
- fertile recruiting area
I think you nailed it with the BOT/decision makers comment. Incompetent and complacent "leadership" seems to be a systemic problem and will require a complete over haul of personnel and accountability from the supporters. As much as I would like to see SC remain mediocre, there is a shite-load of untapped potential with the program.
