That gem we got of Najee at South Carolina is all you have to know about his skill set. I believe one of the reasons he continues to get away with the high hurdle is the man's ability to just go up almost from a standing start. Other backs who try this seems more like they need a running start and it might make them a little more vulnerable to getting caught in the air. Najee gets right up on a player and just starts climbing. Amazing lift for such a big guy.

Anyway, his speed is not as important for this guy's career with his elusiveness on such display. Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith are one and two on top of the NFL food chain and both were not speed-demons. They both did it with amazing elusiveness, agility, strength, and balance.

Najee's running style has always reminded me of Le'Veon Bell's. Neither have great breakaway speed, but they run with exceptional patience, combined with incredible burst/power. His ability to go from stopping, followed by a quick, powerful burst makes it easy for him to leap over people IMO. I gets the defender off balance, and out of sync.
