Saban was a pioneer in that department also. Before him, when a person got a job as a football coach, he never left that position during the rest of his working life.

It was an antiquated system that demanded that you only have one job in the coaching ranks.

Saban blew that old system apart and said to the nation that it was okay to have more than one job in coaching.

He didn't play by the rules and by doing that, he opened up a lot of opportunities for other coaches and assistants, etc... to move around and take other jobs if they wanted to.

The man is a trailblazer in more ways than one. Before Saban, the only way coaches could leave their current football related job, not matter what it was, was in a pine box.

Upon finally being lucky enough to get a job, coaches would say things like "the only way I'm leaving here is in a pine box".

Yea, looking back now, it seems to appear to have been a poor choice.

It's a shame that he couldn't find success again after his return to college football.

Oh well, you live and learn....
