What does the contagious part have to do with this discussion?

The argument many are making is “one death is too much”. If true, football needed to be cancelled long before covid-19 came along

The argument is “until no deaths can be guaranteed we shouldn’t play”. Well, hate to tell you, even if covid-19 completely disappears that can never be guaranteed with football. Deaths already happen directly due to to the sport itself

Are you kidding? How about read the post I responded to. That is the post that’s irrelevant. Pointing out that a season wasn’t cancelled because a player had a heatstroke is irrelevant. The reason for the face shield is because we are in the middle of a pandemic? Did I really need to explain this?
